Corniche Hospital Abu Dhabi is seeking to appoint a full time obstetrician into the Chair of Obstetrics. This post is intended to provide clinical and strategic leadership for a busy department consisting of 27 consultants providing a full range of tertiary services as well as a 24/7 in-house consultant model.
Applicants must have appropriate experience in both clinical obstetrics and medical leadership. The post attracts generous remuneration. It is anticipated that the successful candidates will have CCT.
The Corniche Hospital is the largest Obstetrics and Gynecology hospital in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the only government run maternity unit in the city of Abu Dhabi. The hospital provides tertiary level referral services for all maternity units across Abu Dhabi and beyond. The hospital delivers 6000 babies a year, the majority to women with complicated pregnancies. Specialty clinics include a preterm birth prevention unit, a combined diabetic antenatal clinic and a bereavement clinic.
The Corniche Hospital Neonatal Unit has 64 cots and operates at near 100% capacity. The hospital offers the full range of fetal medicine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including laser therapy and has a very busy obstetric medicine unit, with two obstetric medicine Consultants providing the medical support needed for women with complications in pregnancy such as diabetes and cardiac disease. The gynaecology unit offers a full range of gynaecology services including a Reproductive Medicine Unit and Early Pregnancy Unit.
The hospital is JCIA and Mother and Baby Friendly accredited. There is a fully functioning simulation unit providing PROMPT, ACLS, BLS and NRP training as well as fetal surveillance training. ATSM training has been established in conjunction with the RCOG and training is offered in Fetal Medicine, Maternal Medicine, Advanced Labour ward Practice and Early Pregnancy and Acute Gynaecology. There is an ACGMEi accredited residency program in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and a fellowship training program in Neonatal Medicine and the Corniche Hospital is the first and only hospital in the region to be part of the Vermont Oxford Network.
