You are invited for a Consultant in Obstetrics at University Hospitals Leicester. This is a substantive replacement post. The post is aimed at a candidate with an interest in maternal medicine specifically maternal mental health. The clinic is already well established with support from a specialist midwife and adult psychiatric mental health. There is however scope for further development. There is a specialist clinic on each site with close working relationships, but the successful candidate would be leading the clinic at LRI.

UHL is one of the largest maternity units in the country and offers specialist services. The CMG provides secondary and tertiary level care, teaching, training and research in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Currently the service is provided over two sites and you are required to work flexibly across both sites, but we expect a substantial service development and a significant move to a single site new built unit.

You should have extensive experience in labour ward management and advanced practice and demonstrate the ability to undertake and teach others to undertake complex obstetric deliveries. The RCOG ATSM in advanced Labour Ward Management is essential. The RCOG ATSM in advanced antenatal practice is highly desirable. You will be expected to develop and support new initiatives and demonstrate the ability to work as part of a large consultant team with the expectation that changes to the job plan will occur as the department develops.

You must have full GMC registration with valid license to practice and be on the Specialist Register or eligible for entry within six months of the date of AAC or equivalent.

Informal visits are encouraged. These should be directed to Dr Cornelia Wiesender, Head of Service Maternity, telephone number 0116 2587770.
