Consultant in Pulmonary Hypertension and Adult Congenital Heart Disease

You are invited for the post of Consultant in Pulmonary Hypertension and Adult Congenital Heart Disease. This post is to substantiate post currently filled by a locum; it is a whole time Consultant in Pulmonary Hypertension and Adult Congenital Heart Disease, based at the Royal Brompton Hospital.
You will run daily ward rounds when consultant of the week, including at the weekend, when on call. You will run and supervise consultant-led outpatient clinics including, as required, at Harefield Hospital, in shared care centres and Adult Congenital Heart Disease Clinics. You will provide in-patient, on-call and day case assessment services to adults with pulmonary hypertension, including catheter lab based diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. You may also be required to contribute to the adult congenital on call service. You will accurately collect patients’ data for submission to the National Pulmonary Hypertension Audit and other databases relevant to their field. You will participate in weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings (MDTs) and MDTs with shared care partners. You will supervise and train junior staff allocated to the Pulmonary Hypertension/Adult Congenital Heart Unit, including clinical fellows and specialist trainees.
In addition, the successful applicant’s role is to be involved in facilitating clinical research by interaction with the pulmonary hypertension and adult congenital heart disease research teams.
You are required to be fully registered Medical Practitioners and must be on the GMC’s Specialist Register or be eligible for admission to the Register within six months from date of interview for the post.
