Consultant in Critical Care Medicine

You are invited for a Part-Time Consultant in Critical Care Medicine (4.5 PAs). This is a replacement post and comprises 4.5 programmed activities in Critical Care Medicine, based at the Royal Brompton Hospital.
The appointee will provide a consultant critical care medicine service, including care of ECMO patients and participate in, and contribute to, the proper functioning and efficient running of the Department. You will participate in critical care outpatient follow up and outreach clinics. You will participate in the on-call rotas for Critical Care Consultants, including AICU and ECMO care and to ensure that the provision of these are efficient and always consistent with the needs of our patients and the service. You will contribute to and continue to develop a severe acute respiratory and cardiac failure service including VV- and VA-ECMO.
In addition, the successful applicant’s role is to contribute to national and international development of the Critical Care service as described above and to lead the development of the critical care follow up service.
Applicants are required to be fully registered Medical Practitioners and must be on the GMC’s Specialist Register or be eligible for admission to the Register within six months from date of interview for the post. Specific experience in cardiothoracic critical care, Adult Critical Care Medicine and care of patients receiving extracorporeal support is also essential.
