The new appointment affords an exciting opportunity to join St Helens and Knowsley Hospitals Genitourinary Medicine & Sexual Health team. This is facilitated by being based in a dedicated Genitourinary department at St Helens Hospital which is an ambulatory care centre completed in 2008 with radiological imaging facilities including CT, MRI and DXA on site. Inpatient facilities are located 4 miles away at the newly built Whiston Hospital. The trust provided district general hospital services to a population of 350,000. covering St Helens and parts of South and East Liverpool and North Cheshire with the regional Plastics and Burns service. The Hospitals are situated close to the M62 motorway between Liverpool and Warrington.

The Genitourinary Medicine & Sexual Health Service currently has 1 WTE clinical lead and 2 speciality doctors supported by nurse specialists and a dedicated health improvement team. The Service is mainly provided in the dedicated a genitourinary department at St Helens Hospital with outpatients clinics also provided in Halton and St Helens boroughs. There are no call requirements for this post.
Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register, or within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT/EU equivalent certification at the time of interview.
The Trust and Genitourinary Medicine & Sexual Health team are committed to education and training. There is a well-developed teaching/training programme with excellent postgraduate facilities. As Lead Employer, on behalf of the Mersey Deanery, the Trust is are responsible for over 2,000 trainee specialty doctors based in hospitals and GP practice placements throughout Merseyside and Cheshire. It is an extremely popular venue for both undergraduates and Foundation Year doctors, ensuring a succession of high quality, enthusiastic trainees.
