This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and expanding Respiratory Team as a Consultant Respiratory Physician, to provide six Respiratory physicians in total. The role is based within the Respiratory team with a plan to provide seven day Respiratory cover. The posts are primarily based at St Peters Hospital in Chertsey where there is a dedicated inpatient respiratory ward plus bronchoscopy and EBUS within a JAG accredited facility. There is a full in-patient and domiciliary NIV service. There is an Ambulatory Pleural Service and developing new Thoracoscopy service. The successful candidate will be expected to participate fully in expanding and further developing the respiratory department. The successful applicant will be supported to take up a lead position in a sub-specialty area depending on their skills and experience. Sub-specialty expertise in Asthma, to support our Omalizumab (Xolair) service would be preferred. ASPH has a long history of respiratory research and this is also undergoing expansion plans. Acute General Medicine commitments will facilitate successful revalidation.
Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals became a Foundation Trust in December 2010 and was formed by the merger of St Peter’s Hospital and Ashford Hospital in 1998. It is the largest provider of acute hospital services in Surrey, serving a population of around 380,000 across Chertsey, Guildford, Woking, Walton-on-Thames, Weybridge, Staines, Bedfont, Feltham and Spelthorne. There are around 400 beds in a range of specialties. There is a full range of imaging services including CT and MRI scanning, and Laboratory Services. Both Hospitals have a modern Postgraduate Centre with library services.
The Trust's location in NW Surrey offers a variety of attractive areas to live, with a wide choice of excellent schools. It has superb transport links, for road, rail and air and is in close proximity to London. There are ample opportunities for outdoor activities for individuals, families, children and the range of sporting opportunities such as golfing and cycling are also well known for the area (The Surrey Cycle Route for instance which was used in the London Olympics). Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures Amusement Theme Parks are very close by, as is Legoland and the Bracknell Forrest which also has a renowned Water Park. The world famous Ascot Racecourse is approximately 30 mins away, and there are other historical villages and towns all within close distance to Ashford & St Peter’s, such as the Runnymede setting where the Magna Carta was signed. As such this area is particularly sought, working at Ashford & St Peter's offers this array of lifestyle opportunities too.
Applicants must be holders of a CCT in Respiratory Medicine and General Internal Medicine or within six months of obtaining such CCT.
