ST3 LAS Cardiology
We are a pioneering research active organisation and we are proud to be doing things differently; whether that be redefining the shape of the local health and care system through our innovative plans for integrated care, or developing new services such as our Frail Older Person’s Assessment Service and our Medically Fit for Discharge Ward.
As well as creating the future, we also know the importance of providing really good, safe, and caring services for our patients. Our iCARE ethos sets out the principles which every member of our staff works to, ensuring good communication, attitude, respect and care for the hospital environment. Our patients tell us we’re getting this right, with our Friends and Family Test results consistently above 95 per cent (patients ‘extremely likely’ or ‘likely’ to recommend us to their friends and family).
We wish to recruit a ST3 Locum Appointment for Service (LAS) Doctor in Cardiology and General Medicine. This is a 12 month fixed term, non-training contract to cover a Deanery vacancy. The posts mirrors exactly the Cardiology Registrar training post and the successful candidate will work as a Cardiology Registrar with General Medical on call responsibilities. The general medicine registrar on call Rota is a 1 in 12 full shift Rota
The post includes a dedicated day per week of offsite (Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton), uninterrupted elective angiography, at least one elective pacemaker implantation list per week, and structured training in transthoracic echo-cardiography, beginning at a basic level and focused on achieving British Society of Echocardiography accreditation.
The Cardiology Department comprises 3 Consultant Cardiologists and a senior Trust Doctor, supported by a team of Cardiology Specialist Nurses in heart failure, arrhythmia, and cardiac rehabilitation. All Cardiology Outpatient Services are managed through the Clinical Investigations Department
Feedback from the Severn Deanery in 2017 showed that Yeovil was one of only two trusts in the region to score an ‘A’ in Cardiology training for ST3 level Trainees. In the 2016 GMC national Training Survey our programme ranked 1st in England for overall satisfaction.
Yeovil District Hospital is a modern hospital in pleasant countryside only two hours from London and less than one hour from the nearest coast. There are excellent facilities in a purpose built Education Centre on-site. Purpose built, off-site, accommodation for Yeovil District Hospital staff members opened in 2012 and is managed by Yarlington Housing Group.
Yeovil District Hospital has been repeatedly rated as one of the top-10 healthcare employers in the country, and is a leader in small hospital, global stroke research and development. We have recently been awarded ‘Vanguard’ status following a successful joint bid with NHS England. Being a ‘Vanguard’ site identifies us as one of the most innovative trusts in the country and gives the Trust national support and funding to carry out its plans to integrate primary and secondary care.
We also have a range of nursing, medical and GP vacancies. If you know of anyone who might be interested in these roles we’d be delighted to hear from them. You can find our adverts for these posts by searching for Yeovil District Hospital in the employers list on NHS Jobs, or please contact our Recruitment Team on 01935 384554, or email@example.com for details.
