Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust was founded in January 2012 coming together from Norfolk & Waveney Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and Suffolk Mental Health Partnership. West Suffolk mental health services serve a population of approximately 275,000 people.
An opportunity has arisen to appoint to a full time Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist based in the community in the West of Suffolk.
The successful applicant will be working with a team of enthusiastic Community Psychiatry Consultants and MDT colleagues, in established Integrated Delivery Teams, based in Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket. These teams cover various pathways including Adult, Enhanced Community(which is generally working with those with either less severe or more stable forms of mental illness/disorder), Later Life, Child and Family, Youth, and Neurodevelopmental. The post holder may be expected to work across pathways where the expertise of an Adult Psychiatrist is required. Inpatient and Home Treatment facilities are based at Wedgwood House, West Suffolk Hospital.

West Suffolk is a predominantly rural area but with good rail and road links to London, and, via the coastal ports and Stansted airport, Europe and further afield! Local economy is based on light industry and farming. Bury St Edmunds is the largest of the market towns in the west of Suffolk, forming the centre of a ring of attractive market towns.
Applicants for the post should have or be eligible for a CCT and eligible onto the Specialist Register within three months of the interview date. Full GMC registration, approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act, eligibility for Approved Clinician status and appropriate adult psychiatry experience are required.

The Trust has now introduced a DBS Update Service which is a contractual requirement. You need to subscribe when you have applied for your DBS clearance and there is a time limit to subscribe of 19 days after receipt of your DBS disclosure. Please ensure that this is completed within the set time scale.
This update service is an annual subscription at a cost of £13 to you. This will enable the Trust to have instant online access to your DBS record, with your consent, and so will remove the need for you to have to apply for this repeat check again.
