Basis: Indefinite Grade: Clinical Academic pay scale
The School of Medicine at the University of Central Lancashire and East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust are seeking to appoint a Clinical
Chair/Reader in Stroke Medicine.
Duties will include:
- Academic Leadership: providing professional leadership in assisting the Head of the School of Medicine in both medical research, teaching and learning, student experience and knowledge transfer within the School and Trust.
- Research and Scholarship: leading, developing and undertaking high quality programmes of research. Encouraging local, national and international research in close collaboration with all appropriate stakeholders.
- Teaching: assisting in the teaching of students and junior clinical colleagues, contributing to CPD, outreach and public engagement activities of the School and to activities as an academic member of the School.
- Clinical provision: holding an Honorary Consultant Physician Post with Special Interest with East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, being part of the Stroke pathway MDT and delivering clinical care at consultant level.
Holding Full Registration with the GMC; MRCP; a PhD, MD or similar; and on the Medical Specialist Register, the successful applicant will have a substantial track record of academic, research and educational experience and achievement in addition to an ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients.

This University position is based in Preston (with occasional visits to
campuses in Burnley and Whitehaven), with Trust commitment at
Blackburn and Burnley.
