Consultant Cardiac Anaesthetist
This is an exciting time to join with a ‘new era for Greater Manchester’ starting on 1 April 2016, as the region became the first in the country to take control of its combined health and social care budgets a sum of more than £6 billion. It means that for the first time leaders and clinicians will be able to tailor budgets and priorities to directly meet the needs of local communities and improve the health and wellbeing of the 2.8 million residents.
The Anaesthesia and Critical Care Directorates based on the Oxford Road and Trafford Hospitals have 94 consultants combined at present and are looking to expand. There are work and rest facilities for both Junior and Senior Medical staff including a library, seminar room, rest/refreshment room, IT facilities and laboratories. The scale of the service enables significant subspecialisation within particular areas of interest and there are a number of Anaesthesia on-call rotas.
In addition there are the benefits of being located near to the facilities of Manchester Medical School and the University.
Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) was formed on 1st October 2017 following the merger of Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM). The Trust comprises of Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, University Dental Hospital of Manchester, St Mary’s Hospital for Women, The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Trafford General Hospital, Wythenshawe Hospital, Altrincham Hospital and Withington Community Hospital.
