Consultant in Respiratory with a Specialist Interest in Cystic Fibrosis Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust is one of the most innovative and successful Trusts in the Midlands. Applications are invited for the post of a whole time Consultant in Respiratory Medicine with a special interest in Cystic Fibrosis. Individuals who are unable to work full time will be eligible to be considered. This is a new post which has been developed as a result of the expanding numbers of adult cystic fibrosis patients who are attending this specialist regional centre. The successful applicant will also take part in the respiratory medicine on-call. Other special interests of the directorate include; occupational lung disease, non-invasive ventilation, severe and brittle asthma, COPD, lung cancer, TB, sleep apnoea and interstitial lung diseases. The successful applicant will work with a large CF multi-disciplinary team, including 2 other consultant physicians. The West Midlands Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre is housed in a new department with a purpose-built out-patient clinic and excellent in-patient facilities. The Respiratory Medicine Department has its own Research Institute and strong academic links with the Universities of Birmingham (Honorary Personal Chair and Senior Lecturers), Aston (Senior Lecturer) and Warwick (Honorary Reader and Senior Lecturer). Outstanding opportunities exist for teaching and research. There are excellent residential areas and schools within easy reach of Birmingham Heartlands and Solihull Hospitals. You must possess the MRCP and have CCT accreditation in respiratory medicine. Candidates must be within 6 months of obtaining CCT on the date of the AAC.
