Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest acute hospital trusts in the country. We provide a full range of services to more than 675,000 people across Portsmouth, South East Hampshire and West Sussex. Most services are provided at Queen Alexandra Hospital but we also offer a range of outpatient and diagnostic facilities closer to patients’ homes. We handle around 142,000 Emergency Department admissions a year and have the busiest maternity department on the South Coast. The Trust employs around 6,480 staff and is the largest employer in Portsmouth.

The Trust’s vision is to be the best hospital, provide the best care by employing the best people and to ensure our patients are the centre of all that we do. If you share the same values as Portsmouth Hospitals; Respect & Dignity, Quality of Care, Working Together and Efficiency we want you to work for us.

We are seeking an enthusiastic consultant colleague to join our existing team. This is a 10 PA replacement post in anticipation of a colleague’s retirement. This post combines H&N and Neuro Oncology practice. Another post combining H&N and second interest, possibly Acute Oncology is being advertised at the same time. Candidates are encouraged to discuss these posts with the department as flexibility on the suggested configuration is possible for the right candidate.

Candidates wishing to work less than 10 PA’s are welcome to discuss their requirements with the department, and where arrangements can be made ensuring continuity of care, part time working will be possible.

The appointee will join the Oncology Team as a Clinical Oncology Consultant and will be expected to participate in all facets of departmental activity.

A full time substantive consultant clinical oncologist post of 10 PA (8DCC+2SPA) is available, covering:

  • Head & Neck Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy; the practice involves approximately 200 new patients annually and will be shared with the two other H&N consultants, one existing and one new post.

  • Neuro Oncology Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy; the practice involves approximately 100 new patients annually and will be shared with another Neuro oncology consultants.
