Consultant Acute Physician
The Acute Medical Service at New Cross Hospital aims to deliver high quality, dynamic and innovative clinical care to the population of Wolverhampton and the Black Country now, and for generations to come.
We invite applications for enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals who share this vision and wish to work as part of a dynamic and friendly unit.
The successful applicant will be joining a team of 7 established, patient-focused physicians, allowing consolidation of our current activities and development of new and innovative services in all aspects of acute and ambulatory medicine.
The AMU team runs a 49 bedded Acute Medical Unit, and is well supported with dedicated junior medical staff. Our own subspecialty interests include elderly care/stroke, cardiology, respiratory medicine and gastroenterology, and are supplemented by excellent speciality liaison and in-reach services. Our contribution to the general medical on-call rota consists of an innovative ED-based model that has contributed to significant improvements in clinical care and patient flow. We are currently exploring options for ambulatory care and virtual clinics, and these posts would be intrinsic to this.
Undergraduate and postgraduate education and training within our department have been identified nationally as excellent, and the successful applicant would be expected to contribute actively to supporting these activities. Specialty interests that complement our current range of services could potentially be accommodated.
