Strategic Director of Public Health for Berkshire
Full-time, 37 hours per week • Permanent
Can you take a lead role in developing and sustaining the delivery model for public health across Berkshire, whilst fulfilling all the requirements of a DPH?
Do you have the vision and tenacity to improve and protect the health of a diverse population of over 775,000 across a complex organisational environment?
Five of the unitary authorities across Berkshire – Slough, Reading, Wokingham, the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, and West Berkshire, working as an established partnership – are seeking an experienced DPH, to work within a fast moving health and care system.
The Public Health service in Berkshire is delivered through five local Consultant led teams, for whom you would be the professional lead. Each council has different but no less significant public health issues with a local vision for public health. The system is complex with seven CCGs, a number of providers, five HWBBs and two STPs which are amongst the first eight designated as Integrated (accountable) Care Systems. You’ll be able to work with all these organisations at a strategic level, providing advocacy and challenge. You will lead a core team which provides public health support centrally to the councils, including health protection, informatics and contract management functions.
You will need to be a registered public health specialist with a track record in public health leadership and delivery. You will also have significant skills in leading change, and in people management, and experience of leading across organisational matrices.
