Applications are invited for a Consultant post in Emergency Medicine
based in the Emergency Department, at St Mary’s Hospital, Isle of Wight
NHS Trust.

You could be integral to developing a transformed Emergency Department
on the Isle of Wight? The department has secured a £1.3m investment
to increase the number of Consultants, Specialty Doctors, Senior Nurses
and Emergency Nurse Practitioners. This also coincides with an additional
£1.2m to redesign our Emergency Department.

We are looking for positive and dynamic individuals with excellent
leadership, clinical and teaching skills, to work effectively in a team
environment in the development of an urgent care floor. The successful
applicant will work as part of the Emergency Department which consists
of four existing Consultants and this post plus three Consultants who take
part in the 1 in 8 on-call rota.

The Isle of Wight has world-class sailing facilities and good beaches;
most of the Island is semi-rural with miles of unspoilt bridleways through
National Trust woods and chalk down land, offering spectacular coastal
walks in areas of outstanding natural beauty. Schooling, in both public and
private sectors, is to a high standard. There are also rapid and frequent
ferry/rail links with Portsmouth, Southampton and Lymington. London can
be reached in 90 minutes by rail from Southampton or Portsmouth.

Applicants should be on the GMC Specialist Register for Emergency
Medicine, one ideally with specialist interest in paediatrics and one with
a specialist interest in elderly emergency medicine or within six months of
obtaining their CCT by the interview date. Subspecialty accreditation in
paediatrics would also be welcomed.

Those unable for personal reasons to work full-time are eligible to be
considered for this post.
