What do we need?
We are looking to appoint new Acute Physicians working in our new Emergency Ambulatory Care, Assessment and Short Stay units with our dynamic, forward thinking team at BSUH NHS Trust. With your enthusiasm, motivation and commitment, you will lead the delivery of acute medical care, providing early and regular review and proactive management of patients. The team works closely with the Emergency Department and you will have a key role in the care of the acutely ill patient.
In-reach support is provided by a variety of specialty consultant colleagues and also a large and growing cohort of advance nurse practitioners. There is the opportunity to play an integral role in helping to further shape the development of the Acute Assessment Unit and Ambulatory Care Service at a pivotal time in the Trust’s programme of reconfiguration and service transformation.
Applicants must be within 6 months of their CCT date in General Internal or Acute Medicine (or hold a GMC-recognised CCT-equivalent qualification).
Where will you work?
Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust is a large multi-site Trust and we are completing the final stages of our ambitious programme to reconfigure services in line with leading national and international care delivery models.
We are the South-East Coast Tertiary centre, we care for the sickest patient’s including Major Trauma, Vascular, Stroke, Cardiology, Neurosurgery and Cardiothoracic. You will be joining a team of clinicians working across 2 sites (Royal Sussex County Hospital (RSCH), Brighton and Princess Royal Hospital (PRH), Hayward’s Heath who all participate in the acute and general medical service, with individual specialty areas of interest and expertise.

The Trust has pioneered award winning work (HSJ awards) alongside the Emergency Department with joint working and the development of a single clerking tool and the planned continued development of an “acute floor” department working across specialties treating newly admitted patients.
