The post is available to start with immediate effect. Subject to negotiation it is likely that a suitable candidate currently undertaking a Fellowship would be encouraged to complete their advanced training before taking up the position. The successful candidate will play a significant part in managing the Cochlear Implant, Skull Base and Otology services at NUH. NUH is a leading trust in the provision of Cochlear Implant surgery, with a well established unit which undertook the first paediatric cochlear implant in the UK.

NUH is also the regional centre for Skull Base Tumours in the East Midlands, and this post will be involved with a multidisciplinary team involving Neurology and Maxillofacial Surgery treating highly complex skull base tumour patients.

Our ENT department provides a comprehensive range of ORL-HNS services, and is organised on a sub specialty basis. The department is situated in a purpose built PFI building and is shared with Ophthalmology. A recent bid has been submitted for over £600K worth of new state-of-the-art videoendoscopic equipment to equip our 9 outpatient consulting rooms. There is a 34 bedded inpatient/day case ward for adults, shared with Maxillofacial Surgery and Ophthalmology and a 22 bedded paediatric surgical specialty ward. There are 3 ENT operating theatres with a wide range of equipment including CO2 and KTP lasers, and Image Guidance systems.

As a teaching Trust we have a strong relationship with our colleagues at the University of Nottingham. In partnership with the University of Nottingham, NUH operates two NIHR Biomedical Research Units - in Hearing & Deafness and Digestive Diseases. Academic interests will be strongly encouraged and supported.

Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview.
