We are pleased to offer an opportunity to join the Acute Medicine team in one of the country’s largest acute NHS Trusts.
Whipps Cross University Hospital is part of Barts Health NHS Trust and is situated in Waltham Forest, North East London. The hospital serves a diverse local population of more than 350,000. It is surrounded by the spectacular Epping forest and beautiful countryside but also within the vibrant and exciting hub that is East London. Stansted airport is a 30minute drive away allowing easy weekend breaks.
Our department is undergoing a period of expansion and service development in conjunction with the local health economy to provide a first class service to our local population. In the next few years there will be the implementation of innovative ideas as we look towards developing models of best practice as well as new ways of working. With this in mind, we are looking for dynamic individuals who share our passion for General and Acute Medicine and want to join us with their ideas and enthusiasm,.
The successful applicant will be expected to work closely with our multi-disciplinary team, our colleagues in the Emergency Department, and the members of the specialist medical teams. We are particularly interested in individuals who can bring innovative ways of working across traditional areas of hospital / community clinical care. Applicants must have accreditation in GIM or AIM, and may have dual accreditation in a medical specialty. The proposed posts include 50% acute medicine, and 50% specialty time.
You will help provide the clinical leadership and supervision to our junior medical staff, ensuring that all patients receive high quality care in a timely fashion. The appointees will be expected to take part in Undergraduate and Postgraduate Teaching and Training.
The posts are 10PA posts (7.5 DCC, 2.5 SPA in the first instance) and development of a subspeciality interest and clinical leadership roles are especially encouraged. This includes Acute Medicine without speciality interest ( 6.5 DCC, 2.5 SPA, 1 PA on-call ) or Acute Medicine with speciality interest ( 6.5 DCC, 2.5 SPA, 1 PA on-call) , 50% split in acute medicine and speciality).
There is flexibility in this and we would welcome a variety of special interests. There are exciting developments in Acute Medicine in Whipps Cross University Hospital.
All candidates must be eligible for full General Medical Council (GMC) registration and either already be on the Specialist Register for Geriatric and General (internal) Medicine or be within six months of receiving a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST)/Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the time of interview.
