Clinical/Non-Clinical Chair in Infectious Diseases

Salary: £78,923 - £105,652 per annum, including London Allowance. The post holder will be appointed at an appropriate point on the Clinical Senior Lecturer scale.
The appointment will be on UCL Grade . The salary range will be On the Consultant Clinical Academic pay scale (minimum £78,923 per annum, according to seniority), or non-Clinical professorial scale (minimum £69,039 per annum, depending on skills & experience).
We are seeking to appoint a Chair in Infectious Diseases based in the Medical Research Council Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (MRC CTU at UCL), part of the Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology as a tenured HEFCE funded post.
The post holder will provide leadership for a programme of clinical trials and epidemiological studies in Infectious Diseases. The post holder will have a lead role in the design, implementation, presentation and reporting of studies, working closely with other senior scientific staff in the Infectious Diseases Theme. It is expected that their expertise will compliment and add value to the existing strength in, and planned repertoire of, infectious diseases research, teaching and capacity building (particularly in Low and Middle Income countries) undertaken by the Unit. The role holder is expected to expand their own portfolio of infectious diseases studies.
The post is open to clinical and non-clinical academics. The candidate must hold a higher academic degree MD/MS or PhD or evidence of an equivalent level of attainment in research publications in high impact journals. In terms of experience, the following are required:
• Experience in Infectious Diseases, Public Health, and healthcare systems in Low and Middle Income settings;
• Proven track in the design and conduct of clinical trials;
• Experience and success in attracting grant funding to support research;
• An excellent record of scientific publications in high impact peer reviewed journals;
• Evidence of participation in Team Science, attention to detail, proven ability to foster successful research collaborations – ideally international;
• Experience of teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, including formal (MD and/or PhD supervision) and informal training of researchers.
