The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust is focused on psychological, social and developmental approaches to understanding mental health and promoting wellbeing. Our staff are supported to be innovative; welcoming new ideas and developing creative ways to deliver services and models of care.
As medical director you will play a key role in delivering our strategy. You will provide professional leadership to our consultants, medical staff and doctors and be part of a highly effective unitary board.
Our goal is that more people should have the opportunity to benefit from our approach to treating mental ill health. As medical director you will provide inspirational leadership to deliver this goal, supporting innovation and clinical excellence while building strong collaborative relationships with external stakeholders to spread our thinking and practice.
This will mean taking a prominent position as an ambassador for the Trust; leading on quality, safety and governance; providing strategic clinical advice to the board and being responsible for revalidation, education, infection control and safeguarding.
We are keen to recruit a senior medical leader with experience of operating within a complex organisation or system. This might be someone already established as an executive director or an associate medical director or clinical director ambitious to break through to their first board-level post. Above all we want someone who has a passion for the work we do, a sympathy for our approach to treating patients and a professional track-record which is highly credible.

This post is permanent, based on seven programmed activities a week and will be appointed as per the consultant contract (2003) terms and conditions plus a pensionable management allowance of £12,000 per annum.
