Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia
Newcastle University, UK has established an international branch campus in
EduCity, Nusajaya, Johor, to provide undergraduate degrees in Medicine
(MBBS), the Biomedical Sciences (BSc), and opportunities for postgraduate
study. The branch campus is known as Newcastle University Medicine
Malaysia (NUMed Malaysia). The NUMed Malaysia branch campus is an
integral component of Newcastle University, which is a founder member of
the UK ‘Russell Group’. Newcastle is a long established world-class research
intensive university, delivering teaching and research externally confirmed as
of the highest international quality.
The academic concept underpinning NUMed Malaysia is for the transnational delivery in Malaysia of a range of undergraduate biomedical and medical degree programmes, equivalent and of identical standard to Newcastle University’s UK-based provision, contextualised to SE Asia. Many of our programmes offer opportunities for periods of study in the UK.
The Dean of Clinical Affairs is critical to the management of Quality Assurance (QA) in relation to undergraduate clinical education provision at NUMed, and with the Deans of Academic and Student Affairs and the NUMed Operational Board will contribute to the development of the QA framework in medicine.
The Dean of Clinical Affairs will have direct responsibility for managing the
delivery of clinical aspects of the integrated medical degree programme
within NUMed, and in conjunction with the other Deans, the NUMed
Executive Board, and the Board of Medical Studies, for ensuring the
effectiveness of learning, teaching and assessment at NUMed.
