Applications are invited for a substantive (10PA) consultant post in Respiratory Medicine to lead our Lung Cancer Service at Aintree University Teaching Hospital NHS Trust, Liverpool.

Aintree University Hospital is a major teaching hospital of the University of Liverpool and its tertiary centres, providing specialist services to a population of around 1.5 million in Merseyside, Cheshire, South Lancashire and North Wales. Aintree Chest Centre is part of The Aintree University Hospital and is situated in an area with one of the highest incidences of respiratory diseases, including lung cancer in the United Kingdom. Each year more than 5000 in-patients and 10,000 out-patients are treated for chest problems. The Lung Cancer service at Aintree has diagnostic services including ebus and medical thoroscopy and has more recently developed a dedicated pleural service. The service has also recently secured investment from national cancer charities to dedicate more time to Meso cancer and also develop a single point of contact service to help reduce acute admissions.

The Chest centre provides specialist investigation and treatment for a wide range of Respiratory conditions with dedicated programmes for the management of asthma, care of COPD, diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer; sleep disordered breathing and home ventilation, interstitial lung disease, occupational lung disease and infections.

Applicants are required to be on the Specialist Register, have their CCT in Respiratory Medicine or be within six months of obtaining it by the interview date. Full Registration and Licensing with the GMC is essential.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.
