Consultant Medical salary (£76,761 - £103,490 per annum) or Agenda for Change band 8D (£67,247 - £83,258 per annum)
Permanent, Full Time (10 programmed activities per week) or 37.5 hours (Agenda for change).
Public Health England is the expert national public health agency that fulfi ls the Secretary of State for Health’s statutory duty to protect health, address inequalities and promote the health and wellbeing of the nation. PHE East Midlands is one of three PHE Centres in the Midlands and East of England
Region. It is the local presence of PHE and an active partner in the local public health system in the East Midlands. The Vision for PHE East Midlands is to provide an integrated service to protect and improve health and reduce inequalities for the population of the East Midlands.
We are seeking to appoint a Consultant in Health Protection to ensure that we are able to maintain and develop our ongoing delivery of Health Protection within the East Midlands. The post holder will be part of the Health Protection team based in Nottingham but required to travel within their geographic area of responsibility and the wider East Midlands area.
The post holder will be responsible for dealing with the surveillance, prevention and control of communicable disease. S/he will provide specialist advice and support locally to stakeholders and will be expected to investigate and manage a full range of health protection incidents and will carry out
surveillance, co-ordination, support and the monitoring of the local implementation of key priorities. The post holder will be the consultant lead for one of the geographic teams as well as implementation of key Health Protection priorities to be agreed with the Deputy Director. The post will require the ability to lead and contribute to a team and work closely with key partners and stakeholders.
The post holder must be included in the GMC Specialist Register or UK Public Health (Specialist) Register or eligible for registration within six months of interview.
The successful candidate will be appointed to the point of the Consultant salary scale appropriate to their years of seniority.
