Dunedin Hospital, New Zealand

Are you looking for a break from the norm? Time to come and stretch your legs somewhere else for a bit? Want to go skiing in New Zealand’s playground for winter?

Our Dunedin Hospital Child Health team are looking for a hard working FRACP trained (or equivalent) Neonatologist and/or a qualified General Paediatrician, with neonatal special interest to join them for 6-12 months. Dunedin Hospital is the tertiary Hospital for the Southern DHB with almost 400 beds and provides care for a population of approximately 180,000 spread over the lower South Island of New Zealand.

Our Level 3 NICU Unit and Paediatric ward have recently been refurbished and boasts a family and staff friendly environment to work in.

Service duties will include Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) duties (including retrievals) and/or Paediatric Inpatient ward and outpatient clinics. These will be conducted as part of a shared roster with other colleagues. You would be expected to undertake a full share of the on-call roster with other members of the team.

Other clinical duties include participation in team ward rounds and non-clinical duties, including quality and safety activities, audit and clinical review meetings.

You will need to be a NZ Medical Council registered Neonatologist or a Paediatrician with experience in neonatology. If you do not already hold NZ Medical Council Registration we can assist you through your application and also in gaining an NZ visa.

Candidates who are not currently registered with the NZ Medical Council should be aware that it is now a requirement of the NZ Medical Council that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. If you have a commitment to working in New Zealand it is highly recommended that you start this process as soon as possible so as to allow your subsequent registration to be undertaken in a timely fashion.
