Consultant in Respiratory Medicine

We are looking for an individual to fill this new part time post within the Respiratory Medicine Department at St James’s University Hospital.
The successful candidate will join a friendly forward thinking team of 13 full-time NHS and academic consultants with specialist interest in Asthma, Bronchiectasis, CF, COPD, ILD, Immunology, Lung Cancer, PCD, Sleep and ventilation.
Respiratory inpatient services are based in Gledhow Wing at St. James’s University Hospital and include three Respiratory wards, a dedicated CF and day unit and a Respiratory Care Unit for non-invasive ventilation. Outpatient services are based at the Leeds General Infirmary with spoke services at four other hospitals.
There is an active research programme in all clinical areas and the successful candidate will be encouraged to participate in these.
The successful applicant should possess MRCP (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.
Applicants should have established skills in Respiratory and General Medicine and its related specialties including experience in COPD and palliative care. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.
Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

‘Developing pathways for managing severe COPD and end stage lung disease.’
