Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Anaesthetist with an interest in Critical Care. Fixed term locum appointments (6-12 months) may be considered for a suitable candidate. The postholder will join the existing team of 7 Consultant Anaesthetists whose job programmes are divided between critical care and providing anaesthesia for surgical lists. 

The applicant must have completed or be within 6 months of completing dual CCT training in Anaesthesia and Critical Care or equivalent. They should be a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and a Fellow of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine. Some post-CCT experience is desirable. Pre-CCT candidates will be considered if eligible for interview

This is a full-time post 10PA Contract. An additional 1.0 Direct Care PA will be offered. The applicant must have FRCA or equivalent and be on the GMC Specialist Register or have their CCT. Applicants who are within 6 months of obtaining their CCT on the date of the AAC may also apply. 

The Anaesthetic and Critical Care Department has received Anaesthesia Clinical Services Accreditation from the Royal College of Anaesthetists after an extensive Peer review in recognition of our commitment to quality and patient care.

Royal Bournemouth Hospital is situated in an ideal location where leisure activities abound. There are 7 miles of glorious sandy beaches stretching from Bournemouth to Poole where the second largest natural harbour enables kitesurfing, sailing and other watersports. The Trust has extensive links with Bournemouth University, resulting in opportunities for research and involvement in training of allied medical staff. This year our department gained a grant from the Health Foundation for innovative research in management of complex acute pain. In the near future, Dorset Health is undergoing restructure and Bournemouth hospital will become the emergency site for East Dorset with elective activity at Poole resulting in development of new critical care services.
