Election of the Master
The National Maternity Hospital has been providing care to generations of women and babies since it was founded In 1894. We are one of the largest maternity hospitals In Western Europe with almost 9,000 babies born annually. We are also recognised as one of Europe's centres of excellence for maternity, neonatal and gynaecological care within a catchment area that spans Dublin, Meath, Kildare and Wlcklow. In addition, the hospital provides tertiary referral services for the whole country.
The National Maternity Hospital is a teaching hospital committed to excellence in healthcare attaining and maintaining the highest international standards in treatment, education and research. It is a public Voluntary Hospital with a complement of over 180 beds and over 900 staff.
ELECTION OF THE MASTER
The Governors of the National Maternity Hospital will elect the Master of the hospital for the statutory period of seven years from 1st January 2019.
The Appointee must hold or be able to secure registration as a specialist in the specialist division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and possess the MRCPI in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or the MRCOG or a qualification equivalent to one of these.
