Consultant in Anaesthesia
Applications are invited for two Consultant Anaesthetic posts at University Hospital Ayr a modern district general hospital.
The Anaesthetic Directorate is looking for enthusiastic dynamic candidates with skills to complement those already within the department. We will support a successful candidate to develop a sub specialty interest including Perioperative Medicine Regional Anaesthesia Acute Pain and Intensive Care Medicine. The department has an extensive commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education clinical simulation and resuscitation with student attachments both in Anaesthesia and ICM.
The successful candidate will be supported and encouraged to develop within the role. The hospital provides acute and elective care in orthopaedics and general surgery and an area wide service for vascular ophthalmology and urology surgery. The medical department provides care in all aspects of general medicine cardiology respiratory endocrinology haematology and oncology.
We have the advantage of a green field site with open views to the countryside free parking and great hospital catering. The location is perfect for visiting the Scottish Highlands and Islands and Lowlands of Galloway. Water based sports riding road cycling and mountain biking are popular. There are several world class golf courses within 30 minutes of the hospital. We are only 40 mins by road to Glasgow and 15 mins to Prestwick Airport.
The Terms and Conditions of Service are those determined by the New Consultant Contract (Scotland) 2004 and each post is offered on a 10 programmed activity basis although opportunities may exist for Extra Programmed Activities subject to service requirements. Applications from individuals who may wish to work on a part-time or job share basis will be considered.
The post will involve participation in an on-call rota with 15 colleagues and prospective cover. The post currently has an availability supplement of 5%. Applicants will be appropriately experienced and hold Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice and must be on the GMC Specialist Register or be within 6 months of the anticipated award of CCT or CESR at the time of interview.
