Based at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr, Caerphilly, SE Wales
This is a great opportunity for a consultant geriatrician to join our close team at Ysybty Ystrad Fawr. The post provides a varied role with sessions in our Medical Assessment Unit and ward cover. Working at the new Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr site we have on average about 20 acute admissions per day through the MAU. The acute medical unit is comprised of 58 beds, which are split over 2 wards. We provide excellent teaching and training opportunities to our junior staff and trainees and a current on call of 1:9. There is an active postgraduate teaching programme and clinical audit is a priority for the department. The medical unit comprises of 8 consultant physicians based at YYF. Visiting Consultants provide, Acute medicine, Respiratory, Cardiology, Rheumatology and Dermatology cover. The medical teams comprise of SpR’s and junior doctors. The hospital is busy with both an acute and emergency workload, which is managed by the consultants and their respective teams. The consultants provide a daily on-call system. The appointee will be a valuable member and senior member of the acute medical directorate.
