Chefarzt (Chief Physician, m/f) for Paediatric Surgery

We believe in 360-degree healthcare.

With 111 hospitals in Germany, Helios has established itself as a powerful healthcare network. A steady flow of knowledge between departments and fast implementation of innovations guarantee patients the best possible care.

Helios Klinikum Berlin-Buch is an ultra-modern and international full-service hospital with more than 1,200 beds in the northeast of Berlin. Our institution maintains the highest medical and nursing standards in the fields of diagnostics and therapy. Recently, a landmark decision was taken to establish a proton therapy centre at the Berlin-Buch facility.

The hospital for paediatric surgery is incorporated in the Level 1 Perinatal Centre and has around 40 beds. Each year, the hospital provides surgical care to more than two thousand patients – from premature babies to adolescents; a high proportion of patients are from abroad. The hospital has the full power of advanced paediatric training (six years), authorisation to draw funds for paediatric surgery within the government health insurance system and a children’s accident insurance consultancy (approx. 2,200 cases annually).

Your duties

In the role of Chefarzt (Chief Physician), you will be responsible, as a member of the hospital’s management team, for overseeing the area of paediatric surgery and representing the hospital in practical, everyday matters of a technical, organisational and scientific nature.

Your profile

You will be a medical and academic authority with extensive experience in a hospital management role. Ideally, you will be a consultant professor of paediatric surgery with a wealth of experience in paediatric visceral and thoracic surgery, and possibly offer a new speciality such as foetal surgery. Recognition as an accident insurance consultant (“Durchgangsarzt”) for children and young people would be an advantage.

You should fulfil the requirements for full power of advanced paediatric training (six years) and authorisation to work within the government health insurance system. Close working relationships with internal and external partners, a business-oriented outlook and approach, an understanding of inter-departmental organisation and a cooperative leadership style are qualities that are second nature to you.

We offer

  • Close cooperation with many related disciplines, including child and youth medicine, surgery, radiotherapy and nuclear medicine
  • Incorporation within the Perinatal Centre at Level 1 (highest level of care)
  • All radiotherapy procedures, including tomotherapy and intraoperative radiotherapy
  • A pleasant working environment as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Non-pay-scale remuneration that is commensurate with the role as well as the option of a company car and a performance-related component
