Based at the PHE Manchester Laboratory
We are looking to appoint a permanent Consultant Medical Virologist or Infectious Disease Accredited Physician with demonstrable experience in clinical and public health virology. This post involves contributing directly to the direction and work of the Virology Department. Applicants will be expected to have relevant qualifications (including CCT or equivalent; and FRCPath or equivalent and experience with clinical management of
communicable disease (essential) and its application to public health. All medical applicants must be on the GMC’s Specialist Register or eligible for registration within six months of interview.
We are looking for an individual with experience in clinical virology and public health microbiology with demonstrable evidence of achievement and leadership in a clinical environment. Our ideal candidate is both experienced and comfortable with working in a multi-disciplinary/multi-professional team while not always being in the leadership role, and who is strongly motivated
towards public health microbiology and health protection, but able to take on leadership roles when necessary. Experience of working on communicable disease outbreaks and incidents will be an advantage.
