Fixed-term post for 2 years from March 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The post is offered for 10 sessions per week (8 daytime sessions plus 2 sessions for a 1 in 5 non-resident on-call rota). Applicants who wish to work fewer sessions (minimum of 6 daytime sessions plus pro rata share of on-call) are also welcome to apply.
Salary: £47,307 - £58,904
This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding and forward-thinking service. The Hospice provides Specialist Palliative Care through its 14 bed Inpatient Unit, Outpatient Clinics, Oak Centre and extensive Community services. The chief responsibilities of the post are care of hospice inpatients, support to the Community Nurse Specialist Team and advice to other professionals in the Wigan Borough. The post is fully supported by a comprehensive multidisciplinary team, including three Consultants in Palliative Medicine, other experienced Palliative Care Doctors, and training grade doctors on rotation.
From August 2018 to February 2020, the service will be piloting an extended 7 day specialist palliative care service across Wigan Borough, funded by Macmillan Cancer Support.
Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC and have at least 2 years’ post-registration experience. The post is suitable for those who have an interest in Palliative Medicine as a career or for professional development. It would also suit those wishing to combine work in a specialist area with sessions in General Practice. Full training will be provided.
