The Department of Breast Surgery at Glenfield Hospital is the largest single-site unit in England with over 800 new cancers diagnosed each year. All screening detected cancers from Leicester Screening Unit are managed in house and full range on Oncoplastic and reconstructive procedures is offered.

We are an active and expanding reconstructive unit with close links with the Plastic Surgery Department at the Leicester Royal Infirmary who provide free flap reconstruction facility as delayed and immediate option. It is expected that the successful candidate will be prepared to negotiate such changes for the benefit of clinical service delivery and the department as a whole.

Applicants must already be on the GMC specialist register or within 6 months of the interview date have a certificate of completion of specialist training.

As this post is regulated by the Protection of Children Act 1999, The Criminal Justice Courts Act 2000 and / or the Care Standards Act 2000 an enhanced disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) will be undertaken

The successful appointee will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical audit. They will be required to undertake management duties and work in a multidisciplinary team.
