Consultant post in Ophthalmology with specialist interest in Glaucoma
We are delighted to advertise one Consultant post in Ophthalmology with specialist interest in Glaucoma. The post will be part of a team of 17 consultants supported by 2 associate specialists, 6 speciality doctors, 2 SpRs and 2 F2s. We have well established orthoptic service and a team of ophthalmic nurses, technicians and in house optometrists. The Ophthalmology department provides services for a population of approximately 720,000 people in East Kent and beyond. The posts will be based at the William Harvey Hospital, Ashford with sessions at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Margate, and Kent and Canterbury Hospital with possible cover at other EKHUFT sites. The Ophthalmology department is very well equipped with 6 networked Topcon Triton plus swept source OCTs with OCT angio, 2 Heidelberg FFA/ICG Camera, 2 slit lamp cameras, Pentacam, 6 Humphrey field analyzers, 5 IOL master 700, 3 Ellex Eyecubed B-scanner, 3 multisopt Valon lasers and 3 Yag lasers one with SLT. There are 3 dedicated Eye theatres and 4 Procedure rooms for oculoplastic, minor ops & intravitreal therapy (IVT). The department has recently implemented OpenEyes as an EPR for ophthalmology. The successful candidate will join 2 existing glaucoma consultants who are supported by a team of trained optometrists, Ophthalmic nurses and technicians.
East Kent is ideally suited for access into London and as a gateway to Europe. There are many areas of unspoilt countryside and some quiet secluded beaches as well as the main centers of population. The Stour Valley runs through the area and there are expanses of great natural beauty and charm together with many places of historic interest. Kent has excellent reputation for schools. There are outstanding local sporting facilities including sailing and golf and the area has excellent housing and schools. The Continent is within immediate reach through the Channel Ports and Channel Tunnel. You can be in France within forty minutes or in Paris in two hours!
