Castle Hill Hospital and Hull Royal Infirmary. Surgery Health Group

Consultant in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery with an interest in Oesophago-gastric cancer resection.

Applications are invited for this substantive post within the Upper Gastro-intestinal Surgery Department of the Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust. This is an additional post to support the continued develop-ment of Upper GI surgery and pancreatic surgical services in the region. The successful candidate will join an Upper GI Department with 8 other consultant surgeon colleagues. 

The hospital is a designated Specialist Upper GI Cancer and Bariatric Surgery Centre. The department covers oesophago-gastric cancer surgery as well as surgery for pancreatic cancer and is a renowned laparo-scopic and bariatric surgery unit.

It is anticipated that the successful applicant would play a in the provision of upper gastrointestinal laparoscopic surgery alongside their general surgical duties. 

The candidate will be expected to participate in the General Surgery service and emergency on-call rota, and commence work as soon as possible. The candidate should have had experience of oesophago-gastric cancer surgery and preferably have had training to a level to perform laparoscopic surgical resections independently.

The successful candidate will be joining team of three OG cancer sur-geons currently working in at this Network cancer MDT centre for OG cancer.

The Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust provides a comprehensive range of acute and elective services over two hospital sites with a based population of around 650,000 with some specialist services aimed at an extended catchment area of 1.2 million people.
