Consultant post in Paediatric Cardiac Intensive Care
Background and Overview
Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust has the widest range of paediatric specialties (>50) and largest critical care unit in the UK. CICU currently has 21 beds and we hope to expand to 29 beds soon as well as incorporating a 12 bedded cardiac HDU in to the new bespoke cardiac critical care unit. Overall, we admit around 1900 patients per year to all our ICUs (850 to CICU), making the unit one of the largest of its kind in Europe. The cardiac unit carries out around 680 cardiac operations per year (580 of which are on bypass). The national services for ECMO, heart / lung transplantion, mechanical assist bridge to transplant, and tracheal services are all housed within the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
We are seeking a full-time Consultant to join our Cardiac Intensive Care team. The appointee will join a team of 23 paediatric intensivists, 9 of whom are based in the CICU. This is a full-time post (8 DCC / 2 SPA). We are looking for an innovative, enthusiastic consultant with appropriate clinical experience (ideally some consultant CICU experience), and partnership working skills. Applicants should have completed advanced training in paediatric intensive care or anaesthesia with at least two years of specialist paediatric intensive care training and additional experience in CICU and ECMO.
