Consultant Chest Physicians
Applications are invited for the following full time posts as Consultant Chest Physician, with High Dependency Medicine and part of a 1:24 Acute General Medicine Rota.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Respiratory Team here at Medway Foundation NHS Trust. The appointees will join the 5.8 existing Consultant Chest Physicians who provide a comprehensive inpatient and outpatient Thoracic Medicine service for the Medway and Swale, population of 400,000.
These posts are to further develop our well regarded Respiratory Department and enable us to continue to deliver high quality services into the future.
Consultant in Sleep and Ventilation to increase our tertiary sleep and domiciliary ventilation service and support development of a local MND network
Consultant with an interest in Pleural Disease, Medway is an asbestos hot spot and we run dedicated pleural clinics and Thoracoscopy lists.
Consultant with an interest in Lung cancer and EBUS to further develop and support the lung cancer and EBUS service
Consultant with an interest in COPD to lead and support better liaison with the Community Respiratory services post of full-time Consultant Chest Physician.
The chest team manage the 6 bed Medical High Dependency unit and Bronte which is a dedicated Respiratory ward where, Non Invasive Ventilation is provided. The Chest Team provides a respiratory in-reach service to the General Medical take daily. Our service is a seven day service.
The chest department is part of The Acute and Continuing Care Directorate. The Consultants in the Respiratory department participate in the Acute General Medicine rota
The Medway Maritime Hospital has Associated University Hospital status and is the largest hospital in Kent, providing all acute services on the Medway Maritime Hospital site. There is ample opportunity to teach medical students from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ School of Medicine and to develop an interest in research. The medical team has developed a formal educational programme for its junior doctors and encourages the continuing education of its consultants. Please note all doctors from the abroad, including the EU, must produce an IELTS certificate with 7.5 scored in all fields before they can be appointed to the Trust.

Medway Maritime Hospital became a smoke free site on Monday 17 October 2016.
