Rural Hospital Medicine Specialist
A unique opportunity now exists at Ashburton Hospital for a Rural Hospital Medicine Specialist.
This position is a permanent, flexible position that encompasses the stimulating scope of practice of rural hospital medicine as well as training and supervising our future rural medical workforce.
You will be a member of a focused interdisciplinary team of health professionals providing a wide range of medical care and will have access to excellent clinical support from other specialists in both Ashburton and Christchurch.
We are a truly integrated health system, with rural specialist practice combined with strong connections to tertiary and primary care. We provide a comprehensive range of inpatient, day patient, outpatient and community based services. The ED sees between 20-30 patients per day and we have 48 inpatient beds in three wards. Ashburton Hospital is an accredited level three rural hospital hospital serving an semi-urban and rural geographic area.
Support and training of RMO's will be an integral part of this position. We have recently been the fortunate recipients of a community grant that has enabled us to purchase state of the art simulation mannequins which we use as part of our training programme.
