We recognise that our people are our greatest asset. We are delighted to be able to offer opportunities for talented, motivated and enthusiastic clinicians. The Trust has developed proposals for the next, and very exciting phase in the Trusts history. If approved they would create – over the next five years – more centralised care at our Trust in two specialist centres. An emergency care centre with a dedicated paediatric unit and a specialist centre for planned care in a brand new hospital. As part of our investment in the future we have a number of Consultant posts that we are recruiting to. If you want to work in a dedicated, warm and friendly team providing compassionate care submit an application.
The Trust is investing in its Emergency Medicine department and is recruiting to 4 consultant posts (2 EM and 2 Paediatric EM, please see separate advert for the paediatric posts), these are new posts to support the senior delivery of Emergency Care and the development of the service.

The Emergency Departments at Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary are currently led by ten consultants (in addition to these new permanent posts) and two nurse consultants, who work across both sites. Speciality Doctor and ST3+ grade doctors provide 24 hour shop floor cover at both sites.

There is a consultant led Trauma Team at Huddersfield, which has been designated a Major Trauma Unit in the West Yorkshire Regional Trauma Network. Both Huddersfield and Calderdale have 4 resuscitation bays, including a dedicated paediatric resus area, with X-ray and ultrasound facilities.

There are separate majors and minors areas and a play-room in both departments. There is a 6-bedded Clinical Decision Unit at Calderdale Royal Hospital. The 7-bedded CDU at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary manages the investigation and treatment of all outpatients with suspected lower limb DVTs. Both CDUs are co-located within the Emergency Departments and function under the direct supervision of the Emergency Medicine consultants. There are 3 consultant clinics per week at each site for the review of wounds, burns and soft tissue injuries, and one sports injury clinic at Calderdale. There is a dedicated Emergency Department physiotherapist who runs clinics across both sites.
