NETS, the Newborn and paediatric Emergency Transport Service invites applications for a half‐time post in medical retrieval. Established in 1979, the Service coordinates clinical advice and emergency transfer of neonatal, infant and paediatric patients from hospitals across NSW and the ACT from a base at Bankstown Aerodrome.
Over 4,100 cases per year are triaged and coordinated by a retrieval specialist; with two thirds moved by a NETS critical care team by ground or air to an appropriate higher level hospital. Retrieval specialists also
participate in some missions; for training purposes and to support care of the most extreme cases.
Apart from eligibility for registration by AHPRA, applicants should have tertiary qualifications such as FRACP, FANZCA, JFICM or FACEM and be experienced in paediatric retrieval medicine. The ability to work within a
small autonomous team and negotiate clinical solutions with multiple stakeholders by telephone and telemedicine tools is key.
The Service is managed as part of the Sydney Children’s Network for NSW Health.
