Applications are invited for a fixed-term (6 months) full time consultant post in Obstetrics and Gynaecology based at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital (WMH) in North Wales. This is a vacancy to cover a six-month employment break by one of our consultant. The post is for ten programmed activities including a combination of resident on call duties during weekdays/nights and non-resident weekend on-calls (hybrid job-plan). This model of working has been created to increase the provision of consultant led care on delivery suite and support the second tier rota.

This post is for a period of six months and suitable for newly trained doctor as a first consultant post as well as for an experienced doctor who wishes to join our team for a fixed time-period. The appointee is expected to demonstrate a special interest in maternal medicine and labour ward to complement our existing team of twelve consultants. Flexibility and commitment to teaching and training is an essential prerequisite for this post. Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of attaining CCT (completion of training) at the date of interview.

WMH based at Wrexham along with Glan Clwyd and Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor form Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB), the largest health board in Wales. WMH is a busy district general hospital with approximately 2700 deliveries per annum. It offers a full range of obstetrics and gynaecology services including foetal medicine, high risk obstetrics, minimal access surgery, urogynaecology, colposcopy and one stop gynaecology clinics. BCUHB is committed to maintaining high quality patient care and good quality teaching and training of junior medical staff and medical students. Successful candidates will be expected to support provision of teaching and training in the department.
