Consultant Stroke Physician

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Stroke Physician which provides a superb opportunity to join a friendly, enthusiastic and dynamic team with 4 other Stroke Consultants in continuing to develop stroke services within Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Stroke and TIA services are at a stage a point of receiving additional investment and this post will work with the team to further improve the service both in terms of providing clinical expertise and bringing new ideas to promote future development.
Stroke services for the Trust were reconfigured to be run from a single site at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, with two combined acute and rehabilitation stroke wards, stroke thrombolysis, TIA clinics, Stroke Early Supported Discharge Teams and close links with our resident team of 7 Consultant Neurologists.
We are actively working towards enhancing our patient centred approach to patient care, in order to achieve greater consistency with our SSNAP data and TIA metrics. The developments in Stroke are supported by collaborative working with other Consultants around the region via the Avon, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Somerset Cardiac and Stroke Network and the Stroke Thrombolysis rota is shared with the other Stroke Consultants in this network.
We are also part of the South West Stroke Research Network and have Stroke Research nurses, providing many opportunities for clinical research.
Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust was formed in April 2002 and became a second wave Foundation Trust in July 2004. Gloucestershire is well known for its natural beauty, cultural and leisure activities and many staff live in and around Cheltenham, The Cotswolds and The Forest of Dean.
The county has many excellent state and private schools as well as colleges of higher education and its own university. There is good rail and road access to Bristol, Birmingham, South Wales and London.
