Consultant Haematologist Haematopathologist
Applications are invited a full-time (10 Programmed Activities) Consultant in the Haemato-oncology Diagnostic Service (HODS) at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. The successful candidate will join an established multidisciplinary team to support the diagnosis and management of haematological malignancies.
HODS acts as a regional referral centre for the East of England, providing the full range of clinical and laboratory services. This is a new post to support significant expansion of the catchment area for the service. The post holder will have specific responsibilities for the provision and development of specialist diagnostic services within the HODS. The role will require collaboration with regional hospital colleagues. Strong links exist between HODS and multiple Cambridge University research groups working on haematological malignancies, and also with the Sanger Institute in the context of developing new genomic approaches to diagnosis.
Applicants should have experience of diagnostic haematopathology, from either a histopathology or haematology background, together with an interactive approach to working with clinical and academic colleagues. The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013).
An opportunity for an additional clinical role may be available.
Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register or within Six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full-time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.
