Applications are invited for Clinical Trials fellowships at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Medical Retinal diseases. We have 2 Medical Retina Clinical Trial fellowship posts available for a 12 month fixed term period with start dates ranging from immediately to January 2018.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience both in the management of medical retinal disease and experience working on commercially sponsored clinical trials. Developing experience and skills in clinical trials work may be invaluable to the post holder when they apply for future Consultant posts in the UK/EU (and potentially be expected to undertake Principle Investigator responsibilities for commercially sponsored clinical trials as a Consultant). Candidates should have completed their higher surgical training in the UK or equivalent. We are seeking candidates with previous unsupervised retinal laser experience, intravitreal injections and clinical experience. Clinical trial experience and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training is desirable but not essential. Possession of the MRCOphth or equivalent is essential as is ‘License to Practice’ or be eligible for registration with the General Medical Council. We also encourage applications from doctors wishing to apply via the Dual Sponsorship Scheme, and applications from doctors with sources of personal funding are also welcome.

All doctors are responsible to maintain a portfolio of their career over the last 5 years in order to satisfy GMC Revalidation criteria. If successful, you will be required to bring along your supporting information portfolio including recent appraisals documents when joining the Trust.

Doctors holding joint and/or various fixed term appointments throughout their appraisal year are also required to demonstrate evidence of an exit report and supporting information from the different appointments they hold throughout their appraisal year. This information must be brought with them when starting a new appointment within The Trust. It is recommended that doctors collect this information before leaving their previous employers.

Candidates invited for interview are welcome to come and visit the department and should contact Mr Bish Pal, Medical Retina Training Director via his NHS secretary Linda Barry on 0207 566 2419 or Mr Praveen Patel, Medical Retina Clinical Trials Lead Consultant via his NHS secretary Hazel Lawrence on 020 7566 2252.
