This will enhance the current substantive team of NHS and academic staff of the Leicester Children’s Hospital. The Leicester Children’s Hospital is predominantly based on the Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI) site (cardiology service currently still at Glenfield site). It provides secondary and tertiary services to the Leicestershire and Rutland communities. It also works in partnership with surrounding NHS Trusts to provide care to patients from further afield.
The Leicester Children’s Hospital Project will relocate the cardiac service to the LRI site and aims to bring about a dramatic improvement in all the inpatient and outpatient facilities over the next three years. The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust consists of three acute teaching hospitals in Leicester. It is fully committed to Continuing Medical Education for consultants.
The acute service is currently based on the Children’s Assessment Unit (CAU) with a turnover of over 14,000 patients per annum. The CAU has a close working relationship with the Paediatric Emergency Department and this will be taken a step further in 2016 with the opening of a ‘Single Front Door’ in the brand new Paediatric Emergency department where all acutely unwell children will be seen.
Applicants must already be on the GMC specialist register or within six months of the interview date have a certificate of completion of specialist training. You will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and clinical audit.
You will be required to undertake management duties and work in a multidisciplinary team. As this post is regulated by the Protection of Children Act 1999, The Criminal Justice Courts Act 2000 and/or the Care Standards Act 2000 an enhanced police criminal records disclosure will be requested by the Trust in the event of a successful application.
