Skull Base Fellow – ENT
Applications are invited for the above post. The post will be for a period of 12 months. The aim of the post will be to enable independent practice in skull base surgery, cochlear implantation and complex otology within a multidisciplinary setting.
The skull base surgery is carried out at Salford Royal Hospital and the otology and cochlear implantation is carried out Manchester Royal Infirmary. Both units have an international reputation for excellence and are amongst the busiest units in the UK. The unit also has the largest neurofibromatosis type II practice in the UK.
You should have obtained the FRCS (ORL-HNS) or equivalent and have already gained extensive experience in the field of middle ear otology.
The salary will be SpR equivalent and will require you to take part in a 1 in 9 specialist registrar on call rota that will cover the Manchester Royal Infirmary and Salford Royal Hospital. The post does not carry a National Training Number and those applicants who do not yet have their CCT should discuss the post with their regional programme director. The Trust has recently developed an Education and Training Contract, which outlines the Trust’s commitment to each junior. Each junior on the scheme also has a named Educational Supervisor Study/ exam leave together with financial support for exam courses may be provided.
