Your Voice our Vision #AspiringToBeTheBest

Applications are invited to the posts of person-specific rotations for achieving CESR in Emergency Medicine at the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) is a novel route to the General Medical Council’s Specialist Register that can be used by doctors who have achieved the skills and experience required to be a specialist in a given specialty by non-traditional routes.

Experience achieved in non-training posts in the UK or abroad along with appropriate courses, success in qualifying examinations, experience logbooks and a portfolio of assessments etc. can be used to submit an application to the GMC for consideration of the award of a CESR.

At Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust we are launching exciting new person-specific CESR rotations in Emergency Medicine. These posts are intended to provide the clinician with the support and training required to successfully complete all aspects of the CESR process. We will organise specific three month secondment-style attachments to address relevant educational and competency needs in specialties such as Anesthesia, Critical Care, Acute Medicine and Paediatrics. The rotation would be initially offered on a fixed-term contract for 24 months after which we would envisage extension on a mutually agreed basis.

You will have the opportunity to work in two different Emergency Departments – The Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke and The Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester. We are renowned in the region for the excellent training and supervision we provide to our trainee doctors. The Consultant body has amongst them
current examiners at the Royal College of Emergency Medicine. There will be a specifically designed training and teaching package for all successful applicants and there will be a designated Consultant supervisor for the duration of the rotation.

From a clinical perspective, doctors appointed to these posts will participate in the 24-hour Emergency Department Rota.

At the time of commencement of post you will be required to be fully registered with the General Medical Council with license to Practice.

For further details and informal visits, please contact Dr Jaydeep Chitnis (Consultant in Emergency Medicine) at jay.chitnis@hhft.nhs.uk or + 44 1256 313004.
