Consultant Hepatologist and Consultant Gastroenterologist with an Interest in IBD and Nutrition
An opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and professional Consultant Hepatologist and a Consultant with an interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Nutrition to join our existing team of 11 Gastroenterology/ Hepatology Consultants in Gloucestershire. You will be a highly-valued member of our team bringing your expert specialist skills to the Trust. The Gloucestershire GI unit has an outstanding reputation for providing high quality gastroenterology services, including a nationally recognised endoscopy training centre, access to research via an active R&D team, a countywide nutrition service, specialist hepatology and IBD teams with dedicated specialist nurse support, and full access to ERCP, EUS, capsule endoscopy and fibroscan. Our aim is to deliver excellent clinical care and our professional, friendly and compassionate team will do everything they can to ensure the patients treatment is of the highest standard.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Specialty Director for Gastroenterology the successful applicants will be required to work with the existing team to provide endoscopy and specialist outpatient clinics. The post will also include responsibility for inpatients on the dedicated gastroenterology ward on the Gloucester site on a 1 week in 7 basis, and participation in the 1:12 countywide GI bleed rota.
Skills Knowledge & Experience:
The successful applicant will be expected to hold (or be within 6 months of obtaining) a CCT in gastroenterology and to practice independently in endoscopy and outpatients, including standard diagnostic upper and lower GI endoscopy and provision of basic endoscopic therapy, including treatment of GI bleeding and colonic polypectomy. Appropriate sub-specialty training and/or accreditation in Hepatology would be desirable for the posts, though skills to complement the existing team would be considered.
The successful applicant would be dynamic and flexible with a view to playing an active part in developing services further.
