Applications are invited for an enthusiastic Consultant Urological Surgeon to join the departments at West Herts Hospitals Trust and University College London Hospital.

This is a new post to improve patient experience and waiting times at both Trusts. At West Herts we provide a comprehensive Urological service from cradle to grave. We have established close working links with the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre and East and North Herts (pelvic oncology) and have established referral pathways to UCLH. We are a tertiary referral centre for HoLEP.

The department is young and enthusiastic and there are advanced plans for a single site diagnostic centre at St Albans Hospital. Currently there are four Consultants serving a population of 620,000 with the service being delivered from all three sites in the Trust (Watford, Hemel Hempstead and St Albans).

The department has all new equipment, having extensively refurbished this four years ago. There are two 100w lasers. There is a strong commitment to training and the SpR posts are very popular.

All Consultants maintain a commitment to core urology but also have established sub-speciality interests.  Whilst the quality of the individual is paramount, an interest in stone management and investigation of upper tract TCC would be ideal.

West Hertfordshire is a popular place to work live with it choice of urban, suburban or rural living, all within close proximity to London. Herfordshire has well renowned schools with Watford Grammar usually topping National League tables for exam results.

The successful candidate should be fully registered with the GMC and possess CCT in Urology or be within 6 months of CCT award at the time of interview.

Applicants are invited to visit the department.
