Queen Elizabeth Hospital

We are delighted to offer the opportunity for two highly motivated, ambitious individuals to join a team of 10 Consultant colorectal surgeons in our modern, teaching hospital unit.

The successful applicants should demonstrate sub-speciality skills which complement the existing service. The unit currently offers treatments for early, advanced and recurrent bowel cancers, surgery for inflammatory bowel disease, abdominal wall reconstruction and pelvic floor dysfunction.

It is anticipated that one post will involve some pelvic floor surgery and the other will be more general however we wish for high quality candidates and flexibility exists within the department to accommodate a variety of specialist interests.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is a designated major trauma unit and houses the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine. The applicant should have entry on the GMC Specialist Register or be within six months of being placed on the Register.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is built centrally within the U.Ks second city and is ideally co-located with the University and Research Park. The unit has developed a strong national and international reputation for research and clinical trials.  While these are NHS appointments we would anticipate that the appointees would provide support for and equally benefit from the education, research and trial activities of the department.

Interested candidates should contact Mr N Suggett, Consultant Colorectal Surgeon and Clinical Service Lead or Mr Simon Radley, Consultant Colorectal Surgeon via Switchboard.
